10 Lessons I’ve Learned As CEO

10 Lessons I’ve Learned As CEO

This a special week for me - it's not just my business anniversary, but it's also a celebration of faith, perseverance, and the incredible journey I embarked on two years ago. I'm thrilled to share the top lessons I've learned about running a makeup line while staying true to my faith.

1. Faith as a Foundation:

From day one, I knew that faith would be the cornerstone of my business. Just like the women of the Bible who displayed unwavering faith in the face of adversity, I've learned that grounding my business in faith has given me strength during challenging times. Trusting in God's plan has guided my decisions and kept me focused on my purpose.

2. The Power of Purpose:

Every product at Hope Beauty is named after a woman from the Bible, and this purpose-driven approach has been a driving force behind my success. The women of the Bible were real. They faced and overcame challenges just like we do. It reminds me daily that I am not just selling makeup; I am sharing stories of resilience, love, and hope. The mission of Hope Beauty is to inspire women with their stories of passion, intelligence, and grit. Knowing my 'why' has kept me motivated and helped me connect with women who long to know that they are beautiful inside and out.

3. Embracing Patience:

As a young entrepreneur, I've had to learn the value of patience. Building a business takes time, and not every season will be abundant. Just like the women of the Bible faced trials and tribulations, I've had to endure setbacks and slow growth periods. But through it all, I've held onto the belief that God's timing is perfect.

4. Community and Connection:

Running a business is not a solitary journey. I've been blessed to connect with fellow entrepreneurs, mentors, and customers who share my faith. Building a supportive community has been invaluable. From the women I’ve prayed for over Instagram to the women who have took the time to teach me how to grow Hope Beauty, these connections have provided encouragement, advice, and a sense of belonging that I cherish.

5. Adaptation and Innovation:

The business world is constantly changing, and it's crucial to adapt and innovate. Just as women in the Bible demonstrated resourcefulness and adaptability, I've learned to pivot my business strategies, embrace new technologies, and stay relevant in the beauty industry.

6. Balancing Faith and Business Ethics:

Maintaining my faith while running a business has meant making ethical choices that align with my beliefs. I've learned that integrity and honesty should always be at the forefront of every decision, along with a substantial amount of prayer. This has not only built trust with my customers, but has also been a source of personal pride. My hope is that this business has a bigger impact than just on makeup, but culturally and spiritually too, which is why I’ve partnered with Live Action to give back.

7. Gratitude for Every Milestone:

Celebrating every small victory has been essential. Whether it's a new product launch, a positive customer review, or hitting a sales goal, recognizing these milestones has filled me with gratitude and reminded me of God's grace. Every single time I see an order notification pop up on my phone I thank God. While I pack orders in our fulfillment room, I pray blessings over the woman who the package is for.

8. Prayer as a Powerful Tool:

Prayer has been my constant companion on this journey. Turning to God in times of need, seeking guidance, and finding solace in prayer has been instrumental in my personal and business growth. It's a reminder that I'm never alone on this path and that God does indeed order our steps.

9. Resilience in the Face of Challenges:

Challenges are inevitable, but they do not define us. Like the women in the Bible who faced trials with unwavering strength, I've learned that resilience is key. Trusting that God has a purpose for every obstacle has given me the strength to persevere.

10. The Beauty of Faith and Business:

Finally, I've learned that faith and business can beautifully coexist. Hope Beauty is a testament to this harmony, a reminder that our faith can shine through our work, and that God's blessings can be found in the most unexpected places.

As I celebrate my two year business anniversary at the age of 25, I am grateful for every lesson, every challenge, and every moment of growth. My faith has not only sustained me but has also allowed me to create a business that reflects my values and brings beauty and inspiration to others.

Thank you for being a part of this awesome journey. Here's to many more years of faith, beauty, and the stories of inspiring women from the Bible.

With love and gratitude,

Hope
